Portland quietly pays bureau director $115K to resign (ORLive)

“The head of Portland’s Bureau of Emergency Management accepted a six-figure severance to resign from his post last month, records obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive show.

Shad Ahmed, who led the bureau since 2022, received just shy of $115,000 — or half his annual salary of $229,424 — and six months of health insurance in exchange for stepping down Feb. 9, according to a copy of the severance agreement.

He is the fourth ousted agency director to leave Portland city government with a golden parachute in the last year, bringing the total payout for departed leaders to more than $700,000.”
